the revolution will b frustrating & mathematical

you can sense it in the tweets today.  a sense of stall.  a waiting 4 the next big event (black thursday).  the slight rise of ahmavotestealer supporters (now THAT is an Oxymoron!).  the paranoia of spytwits.  the dumb jokes. and above all a sense that #iranelection is in summer repeat mode.  old news regurgitated over and over clogs the #hash and makes it difficult to seperate the NEWS from the fish wrap, to use an old newspaper term.  in other words, #iranelection is smelling pretty ripe.

still, there’s the occassional nugget of actual worthy information.  some math wonk did a benford’s anaylis on the vote results (which reminds me of an old blog i wrote on that very subject.  said blog is long since ‘dust in the wind’, sigh).  benford’s law (and analyis) has an application to detecting voter fraud.  it’s spooky math stuff, but it works.  and the iran election is DEFINITELY fraudulent.  Off the hook bad. These stats don’t lie!

here’s my tweet on the subject:

very cool benford’s law analysis of the #iranelection … fraud? youbetcha! it’s in the logarithms! http://bit.ly/KrMt6
